Protect and Restore Your Teeth

Your teeth are incredibly strong, even stronger than your bones. However, they are not indestructible and can suffer from damage and decay. These issues weaken your teeth and increase the risk of infection. At Encino Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer tooth-colored crowns to restore damaged teeth and protect your oral health.

Effects of Tooth Damage

Damaged teeth require prompt attention. Even minor issues, if left untreated, can escalate into more serious problems. Damage can weaken the tooth, increasing the risk of splitting or shattering. It can also create an entry point for bacteria, leading to painful and potentially serious infections.

What is a Crown?

A crown is a custom dental restoration designed to encase the entire visible structure of a damaged tooth. It acts like a cap that holds the tooth together, restoring its strength, functionality, and appearance while also preventing further damage and infections.

Crown Material

At Encino Cosmetic Dentistry, we exclusively provide ceramic crowns, which are entirely tooth-colored. These crowns offer:

  • A Natural Appearance: Designed to match the shade of your surrounding teeth.
  • Durability and Strength: Resistant to wear and long-lasting with proper care.
  • Light Reflection Similar to Natural Enamel: Blends seamlessly with your smile.

Crown Placement Process

Placing a crown typically requires two appointments:

First Appointment:

  • The damaged tooth is prepared by removing a portion of the enamel to ensure the crown fits snugly.
  • An impression of your mouth is taken to create a custom crown.
  • A temporary crown is placed to protect your tooth while the permanent crown is being made.

Second Appointment:

  • The custom crown is placed to check fit, comfort, and bite alignment.
  • Once confirmed, the crown is permanently bonded to your tooth.

Benefits of a Crown

  • Restores Strength and Function: Enables normal chewing and speaking.
  • Protects Against Further Damage: Shields the tooth from fractures and bacteria.
  • Blends Seamlessly with Natural Teeth: Aesthetic and functional enhancement.
  • Long-Lasting and Reliable: Provides durable protection with proper care.
